Trinity Mirror launches editorial review

Trinity Mirror group has decided to review its editorial practices in the wake of the phone hacking scandal, according to Associated Press.

Five anonymous sources told the New York Times last week that the illegal practice of intercepting voicemails had been “rife” at the Daily Mirror under former editor Piers Morgan, who has denied the claims.

Trinity Mirror spokesman Nick Fullagar said that the inquiry was not an investigation into claims of phone hacking, but acknowledged that the move had been precipitated by the News of the World scandal.

“In light of recent events, we thought it was timely to look at our controls and procedures,” Fullagar said. “Clearly, after any significant event, it’s just good corporate governance.”
