Desmond wants whoppers

Channel 5’s director of programmes Jeff Ford says its new owner, Richard Desmond, has promised to spend “tens of millions of pounds” on “big things, whoppers”.

Ford, who has replaced Richard Wolffe, told MediaGuardian it was his job to ensure Desmond was “making the right decisions”, but would not say if that included signing up Big Brother.

Apparently Desmond has put the reality show on his wish list alongside less probable targets including The X Factor and Top of the Pops.
